“An excellent course that really gives you a clear understanding behind the responsibility of gun ownership. The instructor was very clear and organized and gave the information in a friendly manner. No one is singled out even if they have no prior knowledge when taking the class but instead encouraged to learn in a calm relaxing atmosphere. They cover gun laws, self defense, and various topics to help those getting their CPL to be responsible once they begin carrying. Many clear "worst case" scenarios are given not to scare students, but rather show them just how important it is to be mindful of the responsibility they now have. They have a virtual gun range that you participate in as part of the class to introduce you to know guns work, how to hold them and provide a safe environment to begin learning the basics. We played two "games" to show us how to aim and focus on a target. One being shooting a paper target and another a can. I got the worst grade by a mile, but I still felt accepted as a student as the class progressed. We later went into the firing range where we shot 50 rounds from our own personal guns or rentals provided by the class. The instructor showed us proper shooting techniques while keeping us safe. The experience has left me feeling more confident and eager to continue my own education and practice. I now start with the basic Penny Drill (in my case they said use a quarter) and am happy with the slow but steady results. I am quite tempted to rent out their virtual range to try and avenge my soda can shooting score of 52! Overall this class is a must for anyone wanting their CPL or just wanting to debunk the fear of gun ownership and educate themselves. Both instructors are brilliant and I urge anyone interested to check out the class!”

“I give Karl's class 5 stars for a few reasons. 1. Incredibly informative. 2. It was easy to understand. 3. It was surprisingly enjoyable. He was pretty funny, which is great when the class material can be a little dry to listen to for 8 hours. 4. You get a fair amount of breaks to stretch out and to get a break from the informative overload. 5. He didn't sugarcoat anything whatsoever. 6. If I could give an extra star for the repeated screw Ohio comments, I would. On a side note, Kyle, the man who helped us at the range, was amazing. He helped me with better form and that small correction made a huge difference in my range performance. The biggest thing I am grateful that he covered, are the specific laws and consequences of using or brandishing your firearm. These things seem obvious but you would be surprised to find all the ways the justice system could hurt you for simply doing the right thing. For all the ladies who want to take the class, I was the only woman in my class. I am happy to say that I was not treated less than or differently than anyone else. My only critique was a comment made by the instructor that I felt was not fair towards women in law enforcement, saying that they should not be given the opportunity to serve. I disagree with that view immensely. To Karl's credit, he did answer my follow-up questions in a very respectful way, which I did appreciate. Overall, man or woman, I would absolutely recommend taking Karl's class.”

“Carl surprised me right out of the gate. It's very clear he's a skilled and knowledgeable instructor and although his personality didn't show it, you can tell you lost that gun fight... Just be prepared to be surprised and don't make any decisions that day about carrying if your beginner. I had no intention of carrying when I went in, I expected to be denied honestly. I woke up the next day found myself giving away 3 OZ of high quality cannabis and no desire to smoke a cigarette or weed because I'd rather train and carry. He does a great job of guiding you to your own decision without influencing you to much with his own beliefs. If I had one tip, Carl don't forget you don't have to read the slides or screen it's all memorized. Slow down, take a friggin breath a period or just let the class read it and wait then re-read it maybe if it's important. The audible learners are retaining well but the visual ones are constantly playing catch up in their head dismissing important facts for speed to keep up. I was far to tired to retain audibly that day so I know lol.... Even still have no fear really he does it so thuroughly and simple it all sticks. There's really no reason to go anywhere else. You definitely leave there with tools and knowledge to gain the skills.”
