No experience is required. My classes are designed for beginners as well as those who want to refresh their knowledge. I will guide you step-by-step in a safe and supportive environment.

How long is the CPL class?

The full CPL class is approximately 8 hours, including classroom instruction and range time.

Can I take the class if I don't own a firearm?

Yes! Firearm rentals are available. Many students attend class before purchasing their first firearm.

Is this class only for women?

Most classes are open to all.  It will specify womans-only if it is.

What age do I need to be to attend?

ou must be 18 years old or older to attend the class.
You must be 21 years old or older to apply for a Michigan CPL.

What happens if I need to reschedule?

If you need to reschedule, please contact me as soon as possible. I will work with you to move you into another available class date.

Closed-toe shoes (required for range time)

How many rounds of ammunition do I need?

Students typically need 50 rounds of ammunition for the live-fire portion.

Can I bring my own firearm?

Yes. If you own a firearm, you are encouraged to bring it, along with the correct ammunition.  Please leave your firearms in your vehicle until the range portion of the class.

Can I rent a firearm for the class?

Yes. Rental firearms are available. Please notify me in advance so I can ensure one is ready for you.

Yes. Range time and qualification are included as part of the CPL course.

What time should I arrive?

Please be on-time.  Doors will open 15 minutes prior.  Please wait to enter the classroom no earlier than 15 minutes prior in order to give the instructor time to set-up.

That’s completely normal! Many students are nervous at first. I provide calm, patient instruction and close supervision to help you feel safe and confident.

Will I receive a certificate after completing the class?

Yes. After successfully completing the class and range qualification, you will receive the certificate required to apply for your Michigan CPL.

Does this class give me my CPL?

No. This class provides the certificate required to apply for your CPL through your local county clerk’s office.

In Michigan, your CPL certificate is valid for 5 years.

Training doesn’t stop after the CPL class. I highly recommend continuing your training through:

Possibly. Certain felony convictions may prevent firearm ownership. If you are unsure, consult with your local law enforcement agency or legal professional before registering.
