Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPO)

As of February 23, 2026, the Maine Judicial Branch began accepting petitions for Extreme Risk Protection Orders under Title 25, § 2244 of the Maine Revised Statutes. An ERPO can temporarily restrict an individual's access to firearms when they pose a significant danger.
