Wyoming Concealed Firearms Permit - Renewal Process

Overview

Wyoming concealed firearms permit (CFP) holders must renew their permits through the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and their local county Sheriff's Office. Renewal applications are available online at the DCI website and must be completed before visiting the Sheriff's Office.

Renewal Application Steps

1. Complete the renewal application online at the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) website.
2. Print four (4) copies of the completed renewal application.
3. Submit the application and fees to the Sheriff's Office in the county where you reside.
4. Processing time may take up to 60 days, depending on volume, once all documents are received at DCI. The Sheriff's Office will receive the permit and contact the applicant once it is completed.

Required Documents for Renewal

• Four (4) copies of the completed renewal application from the DCI website

Note: Unlike new applications, renewal applications do not require proof of firearms proficiency or photo ID copies.

Renewal Fees

DCI Fees (paid via cashier's check or money order made payable to DCI or WY Attorney General's Office)

• DCI fees are non-refundable.
• DCI does not accept cash, credit cards, or personal checks.

Sheriff's Office Fees (vary by county)

• Natrona County: $5.00 processing fee (payable by cash or check)
• Albany County: $15.00 if notarized at the Albany County Sheriff's Office; $5.00 if notarized elsewhere (payable by cashier's check, exact cash, money order, or personal check)

Sheriff's Office fees are also non-refundable. All fees retained by the Sheriff are deposited in the general fund of the respective county.

Important Deadlines & Expiration Rules

• If the permit has not yet expired: Standard renewal fee of $45.00 applies.
• If the permit has expired but is within six (6) months of the expiration date: A late renewal fee of $55.00 applies.
• If the permit is more than six (6) months expired: The applicant must reapply as a new applicant, including all new application requirements (fingerprinting, proof of firearms proficiency, photo ID, and the full $64.00 new application fee).
