Missouri sets statutory caps on CCP fees but allows each county sheriff to set the actual fee at or below the cap. The caps are set out in Mo. Rev. Stat. Section 571.101 (standard CCP), Section 571.215 (lifetime CCP), and Section 571.205 to 571.230 (senior CCP).

The fee is set by the sheriff for each county. Some sheriffs publish the fee on their website; others post it at the office.
Many sheriffs include the cost of fingerprint capture in the application fee. Others charge separately. Typical separate charges:
The Missouri Highway Patrol charges a fixed state background-check fee that is typically passed through to the applicant; the FBI charges a separate federal background-check fee. These are typically wrapped into the sheriff's application fee but can be itemized.
Mo. Rev. Stat. Section 571.111 requires an eight-hour course with live-fire qualification. Costs vary widely:
Ammunition is typically separately charged or included; expect $20 to $50 in ammunition cost.
Mo. Rev. Stat. Section 571.121 requires the Missouri Department of Revenue to add a notation to the driver's license identifying the holder as a CCP holder. The Department charges its standard duplicate driver's license fee, typically $20 to $25, for the new license with the notation.
If the applicant has recently renewed the driver's license, the holder may continue to use the existing license and add the notation at the next renewal at no additional cost (sometimes).
A standard CCP renewal under Mo. Rev. Stat. Section 571.104 is capped at $50 by the sheriff. No fresh training is required. The renewal applicant typically pays:
Renewal must be initiated before the existing CCP expires. A lapsed CCP cannot be renewed; the applicant must apply as new (full fee, full training).
A lifetime CCP under Section 571.215 does not require renewal.
A senior CCP under Section 571.205 is valid for 25 years and does not require interim renewal during the term.
A lost or stolen CCP can be replaced for up to $10 under Mo. Rev. Stat. Section 571.111.4. The holder reports the loss to the issuing sheriff and pays the replacement fee.
A name change (after marriage or divorce) typically requires a replacement CCP and an updated driver's license. The total cost is the $10 replacement fee plus the Department of Revenue's name-change fee.

The veteran applicant should present a DD-214 to the sheriff and to the training instructor.
The standard five-year CCP at $100 (sheriff fee only, training and other costs separate) is the most common choice. The lifetime CCP at $500 breaks even after roughly 25 years of standard-CCP renewals ($100 + $50 + $50 + $50 + $50 = $300 in fees over 25 years, plus any fresh fingerprinting). For applicants under age 40 in good health, the lifetime CCP is often the better economic choice. For applicants over age 60, the senior CCP at $200 for 25 years is the optimal choice.
The fees are deposited in a county fund earmarked for sheriff's office operations.
